The Editorial Board manages the day-to-day editorial flow of the Society’s official journal, Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. They ensure the highest possible scientific standard for the journal and constantly seek ways to improve all aspects of the editorial, review and publication processes. They support the Chair of the group, the Editor-in-Chief of the journal. 

Prof. Anthony Odibo, MD, MSCE, FRCOG, FACOG

Anthony Odibo is currently employed as a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, USA. He completed his medical training at the University of Benin, Nigeria and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology / Maternal Fetal Medicine in the UK and USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Anthony Odibo also holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Anthony Odibo splits his time between an active clinical practice, with focus on prenatal diagnosis and fetal therapy, as well as research investigating prediction models and the role of the placenta in development of adverse pregnancy outcomes. He is the Medical Director of the Fetal Care Center of Tampa Bay.

Anthony Odibo is the new Editor in Chief of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has previously served as the Deputy Chief Editor for ACTA and Editor for BJOG and Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is on the Editorial Board for BJOG and Prenatal Diagnosis.

He as introduced many new techniques such as the routine pregnancy scan, the early diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, the assessment of fetal growth and wellbeing and ultrasound screening for ovarian cancer. He holds numerous international honours and has recently introduced 3D scanning to the UK and set up the first 4D Ultrasound Clinic. Prof. Basky Thilaganathan is a specialist in the medical and surgical management of highrisk pregnancies (materno-fetal medicine) with a focus on twin pregnancy, fetal growth, fetal abnormality and pre-eclampsia. Prof. Thilaganathan's research methods include uterine Doppler and trophoblast invasion, screening for pre-eclampsia, echocardiography-based studies of maternal cardiac adaptation to pregnancy, and clinical studies of twin pregnancies.

He has authored two undergraduate and five postgraduate textbooks in obstetrics and fetal medicine and is the lead trainer for the Maternal-Fetal medicine sub-speciality training programme at St George’s Hospital, London. Prof. Thilaganathan was Editor-in-Chief of ISUOG’s Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology for nearly 8 years, within that time raising the Journal’s impact factor to 5.654. Furthermore, he has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications in indexed journals. Editors

Caterina (Katia) M. Bilardo completed her medical Study and the specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Turin. She was a Fellow in Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Medicine (1985-1989) at King’s College Hospital, London, where she worked under the supervision of Prof. S. Campbell and Prof. K. N. Nicolaides.

In 1989 she relocated to the Netherlands, where in 2011 she was appointed Professor in Fetal Medicine at the University Medical Center Groningen and in 2018 at the Amsterdam UMC, location VU Medical Center. Since May 2020, she is Emeritus Professor at the University of Amsterdam and Groningen.

She has been a member of the Editorial Board of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2007, and in 2009 she became a Trustee of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, where she has had the role of Chair of the Education Committee (2013-2017) and later President (2018-2020).

She has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and supervised numerous PhD students. In 2021, she was bestowed the Stuart Campbell award for Education. Her research areas cover: Doppler studies of the utero-placental and fetal circulation, fetal dysmorphology (2D and 3D studies), first and second trimester ultrasound and biochemical screening for aneuploidies, psychological aspects of screening and fetal cardiology.

Paolo Ivo Cavoretto, MD, PhD is the Head of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital and University in Milan, Italy. He completed a research fellowship at King’s College Hospital, London, earning the FMF Diploma in Fetal Medicine. In 2011, he received his PhD in Prenatal Developmental Sciences, Diagnosis, and Fetal Therapy, followed by the Italian National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2017.

Dr. Cavoretto specializes in MFM and high-risk obstetrics, with a clinical and research focus on screening and managing preterm birth, placental dysfunction, fetal growth, ART pregnancies, congenital heart defects, and spina bifida (including fetal surgery). Since 2006, he has been an ultrasound trainer for the FMF and a University teacher.

He joined the UOG Editorial Board in 2018, is a member of ISUOG Advisory Group and the International Fetoscopy Working Group, and coordinates the First Trimester Committee of the Italian Society of Obs-Gynae Ultrasound. He also holds editorial roles for Journals such as Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth, and Heliyon. In 2023, he was recognized as Outstanding Reviewer by the UOG Board and remains actively involved in editorial work of major scientific Journals and international bodies awarding competitive grants.

Lior Drukker is a clinician and an academic scientist at the Ultrasound Maternity Unit, Rabin Medical Center, Tel Aviv University, Israel. He divides his time between hands-on clinical fetal medicine ultrasound in a tertiary referral center, community-based ultrasound, teaching ultrasound trainees, and research on artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to improve maternal-fetal medicine care.

He graduated from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Jerusalem, Israel. After that, he completed a three-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Oxford, United Kingdom.

He is an editor for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a main interest in artificial intelligence and novel technologies, an ad-hoc reviewer for the leading obstetrics and gynecology/Imaging journals, and a co-author of more than 90 peer-reviewed papers.

Dr Veronica Giorgione is a Subspecialty Trainee in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, which is one of the largest fetal centers in the UK for prenatal diagnosis and treatment. After completing her specialization in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, Italy, she moved to London to pursue further research and clinical practice.

Dr Giorgione earned her PhD in 2022 from St George's, University of London, where she conducted a prospective study on the cardiovascular phenotyping of pre-eclampsia as part of the Horizon 2020-MSCA iPLACENTA project. Her primary research interests include maternal cardiovascular health, pre-eclampsia, and fetal growth restriction, with a specific focus on postpartum cardiovascular outcomes for both mothers and fetuses. In addition, she completed an International Clinical Fellowship in Fetal Neurology at Lis Women’s and Maternity Hospital in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she developed expertise in fetal brain development and the diagnosis of fetal neurological conditions.

Dr Giorgione served as a Trainee Editor for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology for three years and has now transitioned to a full Editor role. She has published extensively on maternal health, pre-eclampsia, fetal and placental disorders.

Fionnuala Mone is a Lecturer and Consultant in Fetal Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast and has dual training & qualification in fetal and genomic medicine having trained in the National Maternity Hospital Dublin and Birmingham Women’s Hospital, UK where she completed a PhD, MSc (Genomic Medicine) and two clinical fellowships. She has been the editor for genetics for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2021 and has also been guest editor for a special prenatal genomics edition for Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Fionnuala has several roles within the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK where she sits on the Scientific Impact Committee, Genomics Standing Committee and Academic Board Committee where she both writes and edits guidance related to genomic and fetal medicine practice. She is also scientific coordinator for the British Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and has served as an invited faculty member for the International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis and ISUOG as well as serving as an invited committee member for the Fetal Genomics Group of the British Society for Genetic Medicine. Her research interests include cell-free DNA screening, deep phenotyping and next generation sequencing within fetal medicine.

Dr. Anita Moon-Grady, co-director of the Fetal Cardiovascular Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, is a Pediatric Cardiologist. Her research focuses on ultrasound for investigation of cardiac function in patients with congenital heart disease and fetuses with congenital heart disease and cardiac compromise, as well as fetuses with cardiac dysfunction due to non-cardiac causes.

Dr. Moon-Grady graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine, where she also earned a Dean’s Award for research in human genetics. She completed residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal/perinatal medicine at UC Davis, and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at UCSF. She is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and the American Medical Association. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the ASE. She is also a founding investigator of the International Fetal Cardiac Intervention Registry and has served several terms on the Board of the North American Fetal Therapy Network; she is a past Board Member and Chair of the Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Committee for the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.  She is President of the non-profit Fetal Heart Society. In addition to her work as an Editor at Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, she is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Dr. Taisto Sarkola is a pediatrician, pediatric cardiologist, and fetal cardiologist located at the New Children’s Hospital, Helsinki University Hospital, Finland. He is a senior investigator and his research group is affiliated with Minerva foundation institute for medical research in Helsinki. Following his graduation as MD in 1998 and Doctoral dissertation of Medical Sciences in 2001 at the University of Helsinki, he was certified as a specialist in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology in 2007 in Helsinki, Finland. Between 2008-2010, he performed a combined clinical and research subspeciality fellowship in echocardiography and fetal echocardiography at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto. He was appointed Docent in Pediatrics in 2012. He has supervised several MD master’s and five PhD-students Thesis to completion. He also has a documented track of medical student, pediatric resident, pediatric cardiology core fellow, and fetal cardiology subspeciality fellow supervision and mentoring. He is a founding member of the Scandiatransplant Pediatric Heart and Lung Group. His main research interests include fetal cardiology, non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound imaging, and preventive cardiology. He started as Editor at UOG in September 2024.

She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Leipzig University, Germany and received her medical training at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Germany, and at Akershus University Hospital, Norway. She holds a PhD on the topic "Changes of pelvic floor anatomy during pregnancy and childbirth, assessed by three- and four-dimensional transperineal ultrasound." Her research interests include imaging of pelvic floor anatomy, childbirth-related birth injuries, and pelvic floor dysfunctions.

Stefania Tudorache, MD, Ph.D., MPH, is a full Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Habilitated Professor with a Master’s in health services management at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova. Her background spans over two decades, as head of the Prenatal Diagnosis Unit at a University-affiliated Emergency Hospital. Stefania’s special interests are in the field of maternal-fetal medicine, early prenatal and invasive diagnosis. She has been involved for many years in the first trimester ultrasound and the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart diseases and her expertise is in gynecological ultrasound. Her current activity is dedicated to the diagnosis of congenital Mullerian anomalies.

Dr Bram Packet is an obstetrician/gynecologist working as a PhD fellow at the University Hospital of Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his medical degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) in 2017. His specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed across several academic hospitals in Belgium (University Hospital of Leuven), Wales (University Hospital of Cardiff) and England (University Hospital of Cambridge). His clinical interests lie in maternal-fetal medicine, whereas the main topics of his PhD are intrapartum ultrasound and pelvic floor ultrasound. The project is funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO fellowship strategic basic research, 1S49923N) and supervised by Prof. Dr. Jute Richter and Prof. Dr. Jan Deprest. In addition to his PhD work, he has co-authored several practice guidelines for the Flemish Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and served as an evaluation panel member for the Belgian Healthcare Knowledge (KCE) trial funding program. In 2023, he obtained a postgraduate certificate in biomedical statistics, awarded by the Leuven Institute for Biomedical Statistics.
