Screening for, and adequate management of, fetal growth abnormalities are essential components of antenatal care, and fetal ultrasound plays a key role in assessment of these conditions. Through early detection of potential growth issues, ultrasound facilitates timely intervention and enables healthcare providers to implement tailored management strategies, minimizing risks associated with growth restrictions or excessive fetal growth.

Why do this course?

This course offers a deep dive into the critical aspects of fetal growth assessment, equipping healthcare providers with the tools and knowledge to distinguish between normal variations in fetal size and pathological growth restriction. With a curriculum grounded in ISUOG Practice Guidelines, it provides a robust framework for applying advanced techniques such as ultrasound, Doppler velocimetry, biomarkers, and computerized cardiotocography in clinical practice. By learning to interpret customized growth charts and implement evidence-based management strategies, participants can enhance care for families affected by growth-related complications, ensuring better outcomes for both mother and fetus. It's an essential learning opportunity for anyone committed to advancing their expertise in maternal-fetal medicine.

Course description

A comprehensive understanding of fetal growth assessment through ultrasound is crucial for distinguishing between constitutionally small fetuses and those affected by pathological growth restriction. By integrating ultrasound, Doppler velocimetry, biomarkers, customized growth charts, and computerized cardiotocography, healthcare providers can differentiate various subtypes of fetal growth restriction and tailor care for affected families. This course, based on ISUOG Practice Guidelines, covers essential methods for assessing fetal biometry and growth, clarifies definitions for growth classifications such as large for gestational age, small for gestational age, early-onset fetal growth restriction late-onset fetal growth restriction, and outlines evidence-based management strategies for optimal care of small-for-gestational-age and growth-restricted fetuses based on current data and knowledge.
