Basic Training Practical Course Hybrid

Join us at the ISUOG office in London on January 11, 2025, for the Practical component of our Basic Training program. This course focuses on the essentials of obstetric and gynecological ultrasound, offering hands-on training with simulators and live demonstrations. Additionally, all on-site participants will have the opportunity to register for the final ISUOG Theoretical Basic Training Assessment.

This one-day course is designed for delegates with limited experience in obstetric and gynecological ultrasound who wish to gain a comprehensive understanding of the ISUOG Basic Training (BT) program. On-site participants attending the one-day course will also have the option to register for the BT Practical Assessment the following day to certify their learning. Join Dr. Gihad Chalouhi and a panel of expert speakers from around the world for this engaging and informative course. Together, they will guide you through the Basic Training methodology, including the 6-step and 20+2 planes approaches, and equip you with practical skills to perform a heart scan. This course offers attendees a unique opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of Basic Training and learn how to effectively apply it in real-world scenarios.

This program for this course has been meticulously curated by Dr Gihad Chalouhi. This course features 9 hours of interactive learning and lectures from a variety of expert speakers.

Delegates have a choice to attend this course virtually or on-site at the ISUOG offices in West London. Delegates attending on-site will be provided with refreshments during the breaks and lunch. Following the course delegates on-site will have the exclusive opportunity to network with the on-site invited faculty and other delegates, light drinks and refreshments will be provided.

Delegates attending on-site will be invited to the ISUOG office by Latimer Road in West London, where the course will be held. You will receive joining instructions with the full information. On-site delegates will have the opportunity to engage in practical workshop sessions, using simulators to explore demo scenarios and cases.

Delegates attending via live stream will receive the web link to attend the course virtually. You will receive live-streaming joining instructions with the full information. Live-stream delegates will have access to all lectures and will be guided through the scanning simulations by one of the invited faculty members, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the sessions.

Trainees/residents and sonographers/radiographers

Proof of status: All trainees, residents, sonographers and radiographers will need to submit proof of their trainee, resident, sonographer or radiographer status by way of a letter from their Department or Institution. The letter must be in English and dated within the last 3 months. The document can be uploaded at the time of registering or sent by email to [email protected].

Sonographer definition: A sonographer is a non-physician medical imaging professional who performs diagnostic medical sonography, or diagnostic ultrasound.

Trainee/resident definition: A trainee is a medical professional who is not yet fully qualified or practicing without supervision within their chosen specialty and in accordance with the relevant national regulatory authorities; a resident is in residency training which leads to specially or subspecialty) certification.

Low resource country discount

Specialist in fetal medicine and surgery, American University of Beirut Medical Center, Lebanon

Co-Founder of CéBB (Centre d’échographie Boulogne-Billancourt) and Centre SFFERe (Spécialiste Fœtus, Femme Enceinte et Reproduction). Part timer in the Fetal surgery center, Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital, Paris, France.

Dr Gihad E. Chalouhi MD, PhD is an Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist. He worked for 8 years with Prof. Yves Ville Y and Prof. Laurent Salomon in Necker-Enfants Malades Hospital, Paris and is subspecialized in in prenatal diagnosis, fetal medicine, fetoscopy and fetal surgery with more than 300 performed fetoscopies. He is specialized in fetal imaging and obtained his PhD in fetal functional MRI in Paris Descartes University and INSERM unit U970. He is a member of the CNGOF (French National College of obstetrics and Gynecology), the LSOG (Lebanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology) and the CFEF (French College of Fetal Ultrasound).

He is a pioneer in the implementation of simulation in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound education, and remains actively involved in this integration. He is an active member of ISUOG's Basic Training Task Force, and leader of the Simulation Work Group. For the last five years he has worked as part of ISUOG's Clinical Standards Committee for the establishment of ISUOG’s Guidelines.

He is the co-founder and President of SimECHOle, the school for ultrasound training and education using simulators in Paris, France.

Notable Publications: Dr Chalouhi has co-authored more than 70 scientific publications in internationally renowned journals and more then 10 chapters.

Dr Suresh Seshadri (India) Outreach Committee member

Dr S.Suresh is the Managing Director of Mediscan Systems a tertiary referral centre for Fetal Medicine in India. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of O&G London (honoriscausa) and is actively involved in training over 4000 physicians from India and other countries in Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine for over 35 years. He has several publications to his credit and is involved in various Research projects in Fetal Medicine. He has set up the Birth Defects Registry of India which is recognized as a subnational registry by the WHO. He is the managing Trustee of Fetal Care Research Foundation a Charity organisation that aims to provide access to treatment options for the underprivileged. He is a recipient of several awards and was one of the earliest to set up a Fetoscopic surgical service in India.

He is a visiting Prof in Perinatology at the Sri Ramachandra Medical University and the Chief functionary of the Voluntary Health Services, a charitable hospital in Chennai which aims to achieve affordable quality health care for all .

Chiara Landolfo, Italian MD and PhD, French and English-speaking, is a consultant Gynaecological Oncologist Surgeon at Imperial College London. She completed her training at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna (Italy), combining her education at Policlinico Sant’Orsola Malpighi (Bologna) by also working at CHU Saint-Pierre in Brussels and KU Leuven (Belgium). With a special interest in gynaecologic ultrasonography, she joined the International Ovarian Tumour Analysis group (IOTA), one of the largest multicentric diagnostic trials on ovarian tumours in the world. She worked together with Prof D. Timmerman at KU Leuven, Prof T. Bourne at Imperial College London and Prof A. Testa at Gemelli Hospital in Rome. She is active in research on gynaecologic ultrasound, translational analyses and artificial intelligence. She also contributes to the International Endometrial Tumour Analysis (IETA) and the Morphological Uterus Sonographic Assessment (MUSA) studies. She is member of ISUOG, SIEOG (Italian Society of Ultrasound in Gynaecology and Obstetrics), and ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology). How do I book on to the BT Practical Assessment?

The BT Practical Asssessment on the Sunday is only available for delegates who attended on-site.

To book a slot for the assessment, please follow the surveymonkey link on your registration confirmation email and number the time slots to your most preferred time to least preferred.

You will then be notified what time your assessment will take place.

Does ISUOG offer certificates of attendance for education courses?

Yes, ISUOG offers certificates of attendance for our education courses. Please note the ISUOG certificate of attendance will be available for one year after a course.

How do I download my certificate?

Following a course registered delegates will receive an email with a link to submit an evaluation form. After completing the evaluation form, registered delegates will be redirected to their certificate, which can be filled in before downloading. Please be sure to download your certificate before exiting the survey.
