Dr. Abuhamad is a physician-scientist-educator who is recognized internationally for his expertise and leadership in maternal-fetal medicine, ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, global outreach and patient safety.
 
Dr. Abuhamad came to EVMS in 1992. Currently, he is the Mason C. Andrews Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
 
As President of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine, he oversaw a year-long initiative to encourage widespread use of ultrasound to minimize radiation exposure with other imaging modalities. He established the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology’s outreach program and has led several ultrasound training missions to the developing world to include Haiti, Ghana and Somaliland. He also is a past President of the Society for Ultrasound in Medical Education and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Dr. Raigam J. Martinez-Portilla is a Full Researcher in the Department of Clinical Research of the National Institute of Perinatology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. His special interests are clinical research regarding preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, fetal surgery, evidence-based medicine, and prediction models. Raigam completed his Fetal Medicine training at the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Francesc Figueras, and his MSc in Evidence-Based Healthcare at the University of Oxford. Raigam is currently in his last year of the PhD in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Hospital Clinic – University of Barcelona also under the supervision of Francesc Figueras.

Raigam is the lead researcher of the Mexican Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the founder of the Iberoamerican Research Network in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Translational Medicine. He is the leading fetal surgeon of the health services of Mexico City and the Private Children’s Hospital also in Mexico City. Raigam is part of the N-Gen committee of ISUOG and a scientific reviewer of the AJOG, UOG, FTD, Plos One, and other relevant journals.

Dr Jessica Preisler is Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Clínica Alemana Santiago and Hospital Clínico University de Chile, Chile as well as 2012 Clinical Research Fellow in early pregnancy and acute gynecology Imperial College London, and recently part of the ISUOG Next Generation Group. During her fellowship, she worked on research projects about Ultrasound diagnosis of miscarriage and IOTA studies. In 2013, she relocated back to Chile where she has focused her work on the Gynecological Ultrasound Unit where she also teaches OBGYN residents. In the non-clinical area, she has been the IOTA Ambassador for South America since 2017, a role that has taken her to multiple countries within the Continent where she ran IOTA training courses. She is also a member of the Chilean Ultrasound Society where she actively organises courses, lectures and teaching sessions. In January 2021, she became part of the Board of the Chilean Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (SOCHUMB). Her special interest includes education in gynecological ultrasound and early pregnancy and gynecological ultrasound training and research. During 2020, Dr Preisler was part of the Next Generation Group and collaborated with ISUOG promoting COVID webinars in Spanish. She also translated ISUOG COVID guidelines in gynecology and early pregnancy.

Dr. Roberto Albinagorta Olortegui is Obstetrician and Gynecologist as well as ISUOG member since 2011. Currently, he is Director of the Center for Advanced Diagnosis of Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain (CDA Endometriosis) and Head of the Maternal Fetal Diagnostic Unit of International Clinic in Lima,Peru. Dr. Albinagorta is President of the Peruvian Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (SPUOG), member of the Peruvian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SPOG), member of the Special Committee of Maternal Fetal Medicine of SPOG, certified member of the Fetal Medicine Foundation, certified member of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) and former consultant to the Ministry of Health (MINSA) on topics of Obstetric Ultrasound and Prenatal Care.

Advanced gynecologic surgeon and sonologist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hamilton Health Sciences

Dr. Mathew Leonardi is an advanced gynecologic surgeon and sonologist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hamilton Health Sciences and assistant professor at McMaster University. His special interests are imaging technologies including transvaginal ultrasound, endometriosis, advanced gynecologic surgery, innovation in diagnosis, and research. Mathew is completing a PhD in Medicine (University of Sydney, Australia), focusing on the utility of ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. He completed his MD and residency at the University of Toronto and fellowship at the University of Sydney.

Mathew is an early career researcher, co-supervisor of a fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, and appointee in the Medical Sciences department at McMaster University. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and an Associate Editor for Reproduction & Fertility. He is involved in with the VISUOG Gynecology endeavour. Mathew is committee member of EndoAct Canada and contributing the latest clinical practice guidelines on endometriosis in Canada. He is leading a research program locally and contributing to international research studies.

Associate Professor Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Baylor College of Medicine

Dr Sanz Cortes current academic position is in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, Texas), as an Associate Professor.  She is a fetal surgeon at Texas Children's Hospital providing care for patients who receive any fetal intervention from the time of pre-surgical evaluation, surgery and until delivery. Part of her clinical care is also dedicated to the management of the fetal neurosonology clinic at the same center.  She is also very invested in multiple research projects related to fetal conditions that require utero therapy from a multidisciplinary approach and with particular emphasis on advanced imaging techniques.  She is passionate about research mentorship, education, development of biomedical devices and innovation.  One of the main focus of her research has been dedicated to understanding the effects of fetal spina bifida repair and its minimally invasive approach, leading initiatives such as the International Consortium for Fetoscopic Myelomeningocele Repair.

Dr Heron Werner Jr is a specialist in fetal medicine and ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology. Between 1992-1996, he underwent Internship in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Fetal Medicine at the Institut de Puericulture de Paris and Hôpital Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Paris, France obtaining the title of  Doctor "Assistant Étranger " at the "Université Paris Descartes". In 2000, Dr Werner completed his Master's degree in Obstetrics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). In 2012, he also completed his PhD in Radiology with the same University. He is a 'Visiting Professor Lectureship' in Radiology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA, member of the Brazilian Academy of Ultrasoud (Chair n.27) as well as member of the Latino America Academy of Ultrasound (Chair n.30).
