The development of methods for the analysis of circulating cellāfree DNA has dramatically changed prenatal screening for fetal aneuploidy. With non-invasive prenatal testing being incorporated rapidly into prenatal care, there has been debate on when it should be performed and its role alongside traditional screening methods. This new Virtual Issue from Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology presents a selection of recent papers reporting on non-invasive prenatal testing, including its incorporation into contingent screening models, its performance in twin pregnancy and the effect of low fetal fraction. These papers are FREE to read for a limited period.
