ISUOG’s Travel Grant scheme makes it possible for five abstract submitters from low-resource countries to attend the annual ISUOG World Congress.
These grants reflect ISUOG's ongoing commitment to support education and research in underserved regions. By providing financial assistance, ISUOG ensures that professionals dedicated to advancing women’s healthcare in their regions can attend the Congress, share their research, and gain knowledge that will benefit their communities.
The grants are awarded to abstract submitters from lower-resource countries who meet the eligibility and qualifying criteria.
This year, the initiative brought five Travel Grant winners to Budapest for #ISUOG2024. It offered them the opportunity to expand their professional networks, access cutting-edge knowledge, and introduce new innovations in OBGYN to their regions.

2024 Travel Grantees Testimonials
Prof. Andres Sarmiento (Colombia)
‘My testimony as a grant participant is very positive and gratifying. ISUOG's commitment to the global south and the support for academic and research issues is clear. I’ve been to ISUOG meetings before, where I’ve learned, referenced, made connections and put my academic career into perspective as a professor. However, attending is very expensive, and the hospital resources for supporting research and travel are limited. This has been a great opportunity for me and my research team back home. Motivation is the best word. Thank you! Now I know what I can do for ISUOG since I know what ISUOG can do for us in Colombia.’
Prof. Alba Esquivel (Colombia)
'I am very grateful for the wonderful opportunity I had to participate in the Travel Grant. I enjoyed fantastic lectures on gynecological ultrasound, shared by colleagues whom I admire for their publications. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing some of the Hungarian culture in Budapest and meeting colleagues from around the world. The organisation, technology and logistics were phenomenal.'
Dr Mariam Louis (Egypt)
‘I was glad to have the opportunity to attend the 34th World Congress which was held in Budapest through winning the travel grant. It was truly an amazing and fruitful experience, with the conference offering a wealth of lectures on the most recent updates in obstetrics and gynecology.’
‘I would like to thank the organising committee and all who helped doctors from developing countries share in this experience.’
Dr Ahmed Essa (Ethiopia)
‘I am an obstetrician and gynecologist with further training in fetal medicine from Ethiopia, Africa. The ISUOG conference in Budapest was exceptional. It was a great opportunity to learn recent updates and meet world leaders in this field. The composition of the lessons was wider than I expected. It was a well-coordinated conference.’
‘My journey as a travel award attendee was amazing. The process, from abstract submission to returning home, was well supported by the event coordinator. I am really thankful for ISUOG team. None of it would have been possible if I hadn’t received the financial coverage. Thank you ISUOG!’
