Ultrasound imaging and genetic testing are set to create new advancements for diagnosis and prenatal care. This key topic will be explored by world-renowned experts in two upcoming ISUOG courses this year.

“Ultrasound imaging with genetic testing will define a new era of prenatal diagnostics.”

- Prof. Asma Khalil

The first of these two courses taking place on 27 April 2025, online, chaired by Prof. Asma Khalil and Prof. Francesco D’Antonio, is Ultrasound meets genetics.

“As our understanding of fetal development evolves, the combination of ultrasound imaging with genetic testing will define a new era of prenatal diagnostics. In our course, 'Ultrasound meets Genetics’, we will demonstrate how cutting-edge imaging can be enhanced with genomic insights to assist in the early diagnosis of fetal anomalies, improve patient counselling, and optimise clinical outcomes for mothers and babies. Practitioners and trainees at all levels are invited to attend this dynamic and interactive course and stay at the forefront of advances in prenatal care.”

Later in the year, one of the two pre-Congress courses is on ‘First trimester insights: ultrasounds meets genetics for optimal pregnancy outcomes’. It will take place in person in Cancun, the day before the Congress - 13 September.

One of the course chairs, Prof. Lorraine Duggoff said: “This is not to be missed! Lecturers include international leaders in prenatal genetics and first trimester ultrasound. We will cover cutting-edge and basic topics relevant to a first trimester prenatal diagnosis practice including cell-free DNA screening, screening for pre-eclampsia, anomaly detection and choosing the ideal genetic diagnostic test. We will include case presentations along with the opportunity to have an interactive discussion.”
